An old vintage couch & a beautiful young family / Brisbane beach family portraits
It’s such a lovely thing to meet new families and watch as they welcome new little additions into their lives. This beautify family invited me into their home to document their pregnancy, and again to meet little Patrick for his newborn session. I was so excited when they contacted me a while back to photograph their lovely family and Grandparents, all the way over on a visit from Germany.
I was excited to be able to use my beautiful French Provincial couch as the main prop for their portraits, and I think it worked perfectly with our sunny afternoon session. I loved watching the family hang out together, and seeing the Grandparents with their beautiful little Grandchildren was so lovely. Throw in a few little toddler tanties, a mighty cold bayside wind, and it made for an interesting but fun afternoon at the beach.

Imagen8 Photography Competition WINNERS!
The votes are in!
I’ve been up since 7.30 this morning counting names and numbers, over and over again, checking and double-checking. Firstly a big THANKYOU to everyone who has voted – friends, family, students, Facebook followers, etc etc. These students did such a great job at the workshop, and their images are creative, witty, and fun! I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to vote for their favourite images. Thankyou also to St Paul’s School for asking me to hold the Photography workshop at their Imagen8 conference – we all had such fun!
So, the votes are in…. And after an incredible 354 votes submitted altogether, the end results were SO CLOSE, with only 5 votes separating first and second place! Our last vote just scraped in at 11.55pm last night, and a sneaky little vote didn’t get through at 21 seconds past the cut-off time at midnight – sorry!
FIRST PLACE – And the winner of a $40 Gift Voucher of your choice is ALICE! Congratulations Alice.
SECOND PLACE – And the winner of a $20 Gift Voucher of your choice is SARA. Well done Sara!
Seriously, the results were so CLOSE!!! Alice took out the lead on 99 votes, with Sara following so closely behind at 94 votes. Even Alex our 3rd place student was only a few votes behind, at 84!

Seaside Family Portraits // Brisbane North Scarborough Beach Photographer
I just love this family!
I’ve known these guys for *years* and was stoked when they wanted to buy a Gift Voucher for their Mum for Mothers Day. Such a great idea! And so we went about planning their session… Grandparents J & C live on the beach, which was a perfect location for their big family portrait session. And ohhhhh, I just LOVE it when my clients get their styling so RIGHT! Casual jeans – plus blue, white and a pop of red. Aaaand, they nailed it.
Hope you love your images, you beautiful family. Thanks for hanging out with me on that freezing cold overcast day, braving the spots of rain and being good sports and jumping in the freezing cold water. It was worth it, don’t you think 🙂 xx

St Paul’s School : Imagen8 Festival Photography Workshop
The last 2 days have been such a whirlwind! I’ve been so privileged to hang out with 20 teenagers from St Paul’s School at Bald Hills, for their annual Imagen8 Festival!
This is the first year St Paul’s have run this, and let me tell you it was AWESOME! 🙂 Imagen8 is designed for imagination, creativity and innovation, and it was so much fun to hang out with all these kids and push their creative limits! During our 2 day workshop we explored the limits of our cameras, and learnt how to take awesome photographs with our cameras on manual. We pushed the limits of our camera’s shutter speed to capture apples falling into water and bursting water balloons in midair! We posed our beautiful models Maddie, Deli and Paige, and learnt to rely on our camera’s Aperture to get beautiful images of our models with blur in the background. And, I think we all had fun as well 🙂
I tried these concepts out at home last week and let me tell you, these kids ROCKED the session, and heaps of their photos were so much better than mine, haha! (especially balloon bursting!).
These kids have taken some unbelievable photos over the last 2 days, and as I promised them, we’ll be running a little COMPETITION to find the best 2 images! But…. we’re missing some student’s names, so it’s a bit unfair to start voting just yet.. So STUDENTS – if you can’t see your name below, PLEASE EMAIL ME – claire@clairepinderphotography.com.au and tell me your name, because I have your photos here and I need your names to match them up 🙂

Extended family! Kids, cousins, relies & parents : Bayside family photographer
I met this beautiful family a few weeks back, on a very chilly and windy afternoon at the beach! We all rugged up in coats and jackets, and our hair whipped around everywhere! We concentrated on our main family with the cutest little boy, and then added in other relies, brothers and sisters, cousin, grandparents, and their lovely Great Grandma! Apart from the freeeeezing cold, we had a fun afternoon and got everyone laughing (to stay warm!) by elbowing them during their group shots, hehe 🙂
Before we’d even finished, their little man was all curled up asleep in Dad’s arms. Modelling is such hard work 🙂
Outdoor pregnancy session at dusk // sun flare and blue skies
Jade’s pregnancy session was held on a beautiful afternoon, full of sun flare, beautiful yellow light, and crisp blue skies. We headed to my favourite outdoor location on the Northside of Brisbane, where the grass grows long and the weeds look beautiful! When the sun set, we ventured back to my home studio for some pregnancy boudoir shots.
It was lovely to watch Jade and hubby Jaed together (or as I called them, Girl Jade and Boy Jaed!). And even more exciting, their little bubby is due any day now, and I can’t wait to meet her very soon!
Little baby Jacob : 5 days new // Brisbane Bayside newborn portrait photographer
This is gorgeous little Jacob, only 5 days old, on his first day at home. Gosh he is cute. Perfect. Sleepy. A parent’s dream. And of course, a newborn photographer’s dream.
I’ve known this little family for a few years, but it’s always so lovely to walk into my clients homes and meet them for the first time. When I arrived Mum Kylie was curling her hair. Dad Greg was chilling on the couch. Little 5 day old Jacob was sleeping in his rocker. Even the puppy Rosie “Wosey” was happy. I love seeing families like this, and it’s almost always the chilled-out families that have the best newborn sessions. No rush, no hurry. Happy baby. Awesome images.

Little baby Tilly : 7 days old // brisbane newborn portrait photography
Every so often, a beautiful little newborn comes along and just *rocks* their photo session.
Gorgeous little Tilly was just 7 days old when I went to visit. So teeny (well, over 7 pound but just so dainty and small!). And ohhhh, so quiet. All through her session I was moving her around, picking her up, wrapping her, tucking in her little fingers and toes, and I never heard even a little squeak from her at all. Even while she was awake, looking all around and trying to find her mummy when she heard her voice. Still, she remained quiet, observing, and just so beautiful.
Beautiful mum Amanda also rocked her pregnancy session! Like mother, like daughter, perhaps… 🙂
